Green ABECE & Safe ABECE
A winning concept is when combining a contribution to a better environment with lowering of our clients costs thus improving their balance sheet. In addition to the green properties of the tile itself, let us give you some examples of how our technology and solutions support the GREEN THINKING.
The HOTBOX curing system has been used and been appreciated by many of our customers since the early 1970’s, which is when we started to build the automated curing chambers. We are still also providing the more energy consuming separate chamber systems that became popular in the 1980’s, but as energy is becoming more costly both in environmental and monetary terms there is a strong incentive to prefer the HOTBOX concept, which has been modernized and developed over the years.
The need for adding of heat in a HOTBOX is actually none or at most a minimum and compared to the separate chamber system the HOTBOX also allows usage of less costly cement. We are of course also happy to build separate chamber system when our customers insist, but be aware; a separate chamber concept needs 0,1–0,2kWh per tile for curing. Money that is taken directly from your P/L sheet.
Green is also about caring for your employee’s physical environment. Our servo knives for example are driven by servos and are much more quiet than a pneumatic driven knife. Also, when using a servo knife, you do not need an energyconsuming compressor to operate it. Our continuous motion drive consumes less energy.
Frequency inverters and servos in general
All motors in an automated ABECE plant are frequency inverters or servo drive controlled. This is decreasing the energy consumption. We are regularly measuring the energy consumed of our machines in newly installed plants and a production line with 200kW-installed power has a typical average usage factor of less than 20%. This means that the plant only spends around 300kWh per shift, except any energy needed for curing after longer stops.
The use of industrial robots is an absolute revolution in concrete roof tile packaging. It not only increases productivity and minimizes downtime and factory space required – it also saves energy. A robot packer with installed power of 60kW has an average usage factor of less than 10%!
This is most easily explained with simple physics. The robots always take the tile packs the shortest way from A to B and this is what counts. Also – a robot packer is easy to adapt to your existing building. And that is yet another way to act green.
